A little bit about me.

I'm Jason Melendez, a young Democrat running to represent Virginia's Fourth Congressional District at the Democratic National Convention this summer in Chicago and cast a vote to nominate President Biden and Vice President Harris for re-election!

Currently, I serve as Legislative and Political Director to Delegate Katrina Callsen (D-Albemarle), leading her legislative office and helping her to earn Freshman Legislator of the Year, a rating as one of the top 10 most progressive legislators, and one of the top five highest House of Delegates "batting averages," having passed along the most bills of any brand new legislator onto the Governor. I'm most proud of my work to advance criminal justice reform legislation, including working on expanding access to the first offender drug program, reducing barrier crimes for kinship foster care, and probation reform.

Leading with compassion and empathy is core to everything I do.

Here's why I'm running to represent CD-4 at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago:

As an organizer at heart, I know what's at stake in this year's election. I'm the youngest candidate running to represent CD-4 in Chicago –– and that matters. At a time when we need young voters to show up now more than ever, we need them at the table and engaged in the process, not just at the ballot box.

I've given my blood, sweat, and tears (almost literally) to elect Democrats across the Commonwealth. And now I'm ready to head to Chicago and kick off the start of the homestretch to re-elect President Biden, Vice President Harris, and, of course, our very own Senator Tim Kaine.

Convention Details

The CD-4 convention will be held at the Petersburg Public Library at 201 W Washington Street, Petersburg, VA 23803 on Saturday, May 18 at 9:30am!
